We are in preparation to take on a very good Salesianum team this Friday. As one of the players said at the end of practice yesterday - "statement game" for our program. We want to play the best and see where we measure up. Also, as I said to the team, this is not the end all be all. We have a much larger goal, and this is another step in the process.
A couple of items that I want to address.
1. Directions for Friday night. We have been alerted that Exit 8A off of I-95 South (the exit that you would normally use for Salesianum and Bayard Stadium) is to have been closed for repairs on Mon Oct 1. I have listed alternate directions on the site and here:
Get off at Exit 8B (202N) going towards West Chester and make a U-turn at the first light you can.
Now on 202 South - Once you pass the ramps for I-95 make a right on Broom St. @ the light (Be careful of red light camera!! If you don't stop right at the line for the right turn on red it will take your picture..). You will pass Salesianum at the end of the street on the right hand side. You can park in the school parking lot or when the street dead ends make a right at the light and Baynard Stadium will be on the left - you can also park in their lot.
2. We are entering the portion of the season when the bumps, the bruises, the tired, the academics, the sickness, all begin to build up and hit. Please make sure that your son is getting the proper rest and nutrition. It really HURTS us when we are missing players at practices, etc. EVERYONE is important on a football team from the starter to the scout team player. It is what makes it a great game. There is a role for everyone on the team. I talk to the boys all the time, this game is like life - you need to fight through some little things, rather than taking the day off because it is easier or more comfortable. Missing one day in a game week, is like missing a week of classes in a semester.
3. Parent/Student Conference Day - This year we do not play on the Friday of Conferences (which is good for us) However, if your schedule permits, when you sign up for conferences tonight - try and do so for a conference that will end before 2pm. We would like to have our Friday practice from 2:00 - 3:30 that day, and then take the boys over to see the PC/MP game at 3:45pm at PC.
Thanks, and looking forward to seeing a lot of Maroon/Gold on Friday night.
