CANNON CLUB NEWSFLASH FOR OCT 3rd - FORDS FRIDAY NIGHT 'LIGHTS OUT' SCHEME TO SULLY SALLIES' HOMECOMING!

Fords Fans . . .

Welcome to Week #6, our 6th and final non-league matchup. Is it just me or are these weeks zipping by
faster than a Chris Morgan post route? This week we’re on the road again to test the Sallies
of Salesianum School (click here for directions) in Wilmington , DE. Don’t let their nickname fool you...this is the #2 ranked team in Delaware and they are undefeated – at least for now.

This is the first-ever meeting of the two schools on the gridiron. While we have about 400 Upper School boys, they have almost 1000, which means they are roughly a AAAA(4A) sized equivalent in the PIAA. Think  LaSalle(uniforms are identical too). Oh well...

OH YES! What an opportunity! Coach Murphy has always said: “we never back down from playing any one, any time, any where...”

So off to the First State it is, where we’ll sharpen our saw and ready ourselves for the Inter-Ac.
Only first, we need to carve out another victory en route to league play...

**And...as an added BONUS – it’s the Sallies’ Homecoming – so we get to play the role of SPOILER!
We want everyone to really make an effort not just to attend, but to bring two or three others. Our attendance for road games has been admirable so far, but this time our boys really need your vocal support to pull off this upset.

So rally your troops and march on down the
historic Rochambeau Route (but unlike Gens. Rochambeau and Washington, you can skip Chester and just use I-95 to 202 S. to right on Broom St.)

The Sallies use beautiful Baynard Stadium on 18th street, just across the street from Salesianum School. It’s actually located in a park, which means, Hey Yogi, it’s pic-a-nic time! Plus, forecast is calling for Indian Summer weather!
We will set up the Fords Tent and commence tailgating at 5:30 P.M. So bring a hoagie and a cooler with some soft drinks – don’t be shy – make it a family outing and settle in for some fantastic Friday night high school football :

IT’S FORDS FRIDAY NIGHT ‘LIGHTS OUT’ (for our opponent)!

See you at Sallies. Don’t dally - game time to rally = 7:30 P.M.

P.S. How ‘bout that new  VOICE OF THE FORDS, Justin Chermyl ‘14. Hasn’t he been doing a great job?! When you see him, be sure to compliment his yeoman (‘YO MAN ?) efforts behind the mike at Sabol Stadium. Way to go Cherm.
